First: We are praying for California and the incomprehensible damage and loss of life in the LA area.
If you are attending PTNPA in Sedona next weekend, lets get together and discuss markets.
Almonds:
The total crop looks to be close to 2.75 billion pounds, with a 500 plus million-pound carry in. Pricing remains bullish.
NPS $3.00-$3.20
ABCs $2.85-$3.50
Cal/Carmel $2.80-$2.95
Pecans:
The harvest was significantly delayed this year, as there were no early/timely freezes in the US West and Mexico. The harvest is in full swing as of this writing (finally had some cold snaps). Inshell prices seem to be stable. Kernel prices are elevated from last year. There seem to be plenty of pecans to meet consumption this year.
FJMH $5.10-$5.35
Fancy Pieces $4.80-$5.25
Western/Wichita inshell $3.30-40 per point
Walnuts:
The market is in a very solid position. Prices are up significantly over the last few months. High half counts are getting sparce.
LHP 20 $3.50-60
CHP 20 $3.40-50
Cashews:
Vietnam market is firm, but with not a lot happening. Prices are up significantly from first quarter of last year - jumped $1.20 in April; they have been fairly steady since then.
WW 240 $4.40
WW 320 $4.20
LP $2.55
Pistachios:
The market is firm. It is difficult to get an offer. The industry should have no problem selling their entire crops - they do an excellent job each year.
18-22 X number 1 $4.70
21-27 X number 1 $4.50
80 percent whole $8.50
